Who I Am
Prime Carpentry is a hands-on building company delivering high-quality renovations and carpentry across Auckland.
I'm Jackson, a Licensed Building Practitioner and the owner-operator behind Prime Carpentry. I focus on doing things properly — with attention to detail, strong workmanship, and clear communication from start to finish.
From the first call to handover, you deal directly with me. I do the work myself, so there's full accountability at every step.
My Approach
I keep my team small and capable so I can stay personally involved in every project. I only take on what I can control and deliver to a high standard — no cutting corners, no overcommitting.
My Commitment
Every project is built with care and experience. As a Licensed Building Practitioner, I carry 50-year structural liability and 10-year weathertightness liability — and I sleep well knowing my workmanship exceeds regulatory standards.
12 Years in the Making
I started my carpentry apprenticeship at 19 and have now spent 12 years in the construction industry, working across a wide range of projects and environments.
I began as the only apprentice working for a sole trader, gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of residential construction. From there, I moved to a high-end North Shore building company delivering multi-million dollar homes, followed by a period working with a hardscaping company completing six-figure backyard transformations.
I then joined a production building crew working on large-scale developments for a prominent New Zealand developer, before finishing my apprenticeship with a respected central Auckland renovation company delivering high-budget private renovation work.
Through this experience, renovation and maintenance work is where I've found my niche. I enjoy working with different materials, various ages of construction, and the challenges that come with problem-solving in existing homes.
Breathing life into older spaces — whether through thoughtful redesign, wainscoting, tiling, or detailed finish work — allows more of your budget to go toward improving function and aesthetics, rather than unnecessary rebuilding.
As a qualified carpenter and Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP), I have the experience to properly assess damage, provide clear advice around when consent and drawings are required, and offer practical alternatives where possible — ensuring more of your money is spent on quality building work, not paperwork.
